Major (Snow)storm This Weekend?

Though it's still about 5 days off, there are indications that if it does snow this weekend we may be talking many inches -- or even feet??!! We've got a classic clash between a zone of warm, moist air to our east and an Arctic cold front pushing in from the north and west. This will likely set up upslope snow for the weekend along with bitterly cold temperatures (for October).

Since we're still 5 days off, I caution you that the forecast can and will likely change somewhat over the next few days as more data comes in, but the potential for (heavy) snow looks to be pretty high from this vantage point.

One thing is for sure, temperatures this weekend will be a shock to the system, with highs in the 30s and lows in the teens!
